Hamburger buns

Today is a very hot day. Hellish heat. Unseen. In Budapest, especially where we live, the Danube is quite close and the wind is always blowing so the heat is manageable. However, today is an exception . I have to prepare for a visit. I was thinking about what to cook. People already know me. I always bring over something I have prepared. Without an exception. They are really curious to see what I have prepared. I was thinking about making ice cream, out of some fruits, but by the time we get there by car, it will have melted on my skirt. We are invited at a grill party. They have a beautiful yard with a swimming pool. It occurred to me that I have a nice recipe for burger buns. The children adore them. The hot dough rises very quickly. I laugh with myself, I did it. Can’t believe I made them all by myself. They thought I bought them, like those you buy packed in a plastic bag. I knew I was going to be a hit at the party.

Hamburger buns

Ingredients:

  • 850g flour
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 40g fresh yeast
  • 500ml milk
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 0.75 dl. Oil

Preparation:

Put the yeast in a bowl. Add the milk and let the yeast melt a little. Add the other ingredients and finally the flour. Knead the dough well, by hand or in a mixer. Leave to rise for 1 hour. Knead the dough and divide it into 4 parts. Make 4 to 5 balls from each piece and place them in an oven tray lined with baking paper. Flatten by hand and left to rise again for 1 hour. Mix 1 egg, a little water and a little salt and spread the liquid on the buns. Sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake in a preheated oven at 225 degrees for 6 to 8 minutes.
