Brioche bread

Brioche is for me one of the most beautiful words in French. Brioche means sweet bread. And not only does it sound nice, but it's enough for me to see it and smell it, and also goes wonderfully with coffee.

Brioche is actually a type of bread, made with butter, eggs and sugar and is usually shaped like a bun. The word brioche was first used in 1404 in France, and it had its glory days during the 18th century because of increased butter consumption. Serve for breakfast, with a glass of milk or tea. One can also use homemade apricot or plum jam as a spread. My whole house smells of beauty…

Brioche bread

Ingredients:

  • 300ml. lukewarm milk
  • 10 g. of dry yeast
  • 1 egg
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 5 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 vanilla sugar
  • 100 g butter at room temperature
  • Pinch of salt
  • grated lemon peel
  • About 700 g of flour

Preparation:

The yeast grows into the milk, the other ingredients are added and a nice dough is kneaded. I use a kneading mixer. Take out the dough and knead a little more, until it becomes smooth and put it in a bowl previously buttered and the dough itself is greased with butter. This butter is in addition to the one in the recipe. Cover the dough with transparent foil and leave it for 1 hour. I rolled the dough out into a rectangle, spread it with homemade plum jam and wrapped it like a loaf. It took another 20 minutes. I baked it in a rectangular pan previously greased with butter at 180 degrees for 30-40 minutes.
